Taking A Break From Blogging

Hope you are all well. I have been taking a break from blogging for awhile, due to not feeling well. I know you all know I struggle with depression, but I have also had some health issues that I am trying to get worked out. I have been going to the doctors to find out what is going on. It is just kind of a waiting process. I have been trying to not worry to much, but of course that is hard to do. I have been trying to stay positive. Worrying doesn't seem to get me very far, except make me feel worse. How do you handle stress about your health? Do you have coping mechanisms that seem to help you? If you have any advice I would love to hear it. Wishing you all Happy Holidays!

Fitness Friday: The Power Of Interval Training

Happy TGIF, today is fitness Friday. I just wanted to let you all know the power of interval training. Even if you are new to fitness, anyone can do interval training. It is all about pushing and recovering. For example, If you are just starting out on your fitness journey and you have decided to start walking. When you go for your walk you would walk fast for 3 minutes then walk slow for 1 minute. These are intervals, you would do the same if you like jogging, jog fast for 3 minutes then walk for a brisk minute. Intervals are a great way to lose weight and get a very effective workout in less time. The same people you see at the gym doing their hour of cardio on the treadmill, could get better results by doing intervals for 30 minutes. Interval workouts help your body burn 30% more calories than exercising at one set pace and can increase your metabolism for up to 12 hours. As always, get permission from your doctor before starting any exercise routine. Have a great weekend!

Accomplish A Goal One Baby Step At A Time

Hi, I just wanted to share a great website with you all. I have joined a website called stikk.com it is really cool. If you have a certain goal or anything that you have been trying to accomplish, this is the perfect way to do it. No, I am not a spokesperson for the site. One of my twitter friends recommended it to me. I thought, why not try it. My small baby goal is to drink 3 glasses of water for 1 day. I know that you are probably laughing right now, right? Yes, I absolutely can't stand drinking water. I am a total Pepsi girl. I mean regular Pepsi, not that diet stuff. I just committed to sticking with 3 glasses because I am easing into drinking water. I know it is one of the best ways to nourish your body and to keep healthy. It is really neat because you put yourself out there by donating your money, limit $5.00. If you do not accomplish your goal, the money will be sent to a charity or a friend. I think it is a great way to be held accountable for anything you want to get done. Well, enough rambling on for now. Thanks for reading!

Trying To Find My Life Purpose At Age 36

I have been thinking all day about what my life purpose is. It is constantly on my mind. I feel as though the clock is ticking for me for some reason. I guess, I am just afraid that if I don't find my purpose soon, I never will. I feel like there is something missing in my life, and I do not know what to do about it. I am searching for contentment. I feel like I could be doing so much more.
I am a wife and a mother, but I love helping people. People are my absolute passion. I just don't know exactly how I could go about finding out what it is I would like to help people with? I am sorry this sounds so confusing, but is really is. I want to make a difference in someones life so badly. I want to change the way they think and feel. I love to make people happy and see them smile. If you have any suggestions feel free to leave me a comment. I hope you all have a great week. Thank you for reading my ramblings.

Out of The Darkness Community Walk

Hi, I know it has been awhile since I have blogged. I am still having a hard time with it because of my depression. Unfortunately, I do not always feel like blogging. I think I should really try to get into the habit of it. I think it could be good therapy because it is like journal writing. I am very happy to announce that I did my first community walk. It was called Out of The Darkness Community walk. I think it is a great cause to help people with suicide prevention. I think if more people can be aware that there is help for mental illness it will give them hope. I have also lost a good friend to suicide. I don't think anyone should have to feel such despair. I would like to help as many people as I can realize that life is good and give them the hope and comfort they need. If anyone is in need of a friend, I want to let them know that I am here and they can count on me. I can say it was a wonderful experience seeing everyone supporting each other. I highly recommend that if you have thought about doing a community walk this is a wonderful cause. It really makes you feel good that you can make a difference. So, what are you waiting for? Sign up today to do a walk. Have a great week!

Trying To Cope With My Depression

Hi, everyone I hope all is well with you. I have been on and off doing my blogging lately. More off than on. As you all know, I have depression and have been struggling with it for many years. I am trying to find more ways to cope with depression. I have been reading a book called The Depression Cure and it is very good with practical and understandable advice. The first thing they talked about was that they have done studies and said that doing exercise seems to be just as effective as taking the medication called Zoloft. I thought that this was amazing. I am definitely going to start back up with my exercising. I kind of fell of the wagon after my 30 day challenge with the EA Sports Active. I do have to admit that it does make you feel better about yourself when you workout. It is just really hard to make yourself exercise when your in the super depressed mode and thinking that nothing will make a difference. I am going to start focusing on having a positive attitude and being grateful for what I have in my life. I have so much to say. There will be more to come soon. I think that I will leave you with this thought from Dr. Wayne Dyer, who says Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life!

Family Camping Trip

Me and my family of four which is me, my husband and two children Zack 18 and Gage 12 all went camping. We camped at Ludington State Park in Michigan. It is very pretty there and the water is nice and clear. I think we all had a good time, considering we only stayed 1 night. I know, I know everyone is saying 1 night. Yes, we are not big campers we only have a tent. The reason also for 1 night is that my husband has Tuesdays and Wednesdays off so we could only reserve Tuesday. This was the only day they had open. Usually, at this state park in particular you have to make a reservation at least 1 year in advance if you want to camp. It was nice to have some quality family time. I think communication is very important and what a better way to communicate by taking my family camping. Iwill say we were kind of bummed because the wood that they sold us was not good and we were not able to keep the fire lit. So guess what we did? My husband made a Taco Bell run. We were all hungry and had the fixings for hot dogs and smores, but it just did not happen. I thought you all might enjoy hearing my adventure on camping this year. Have a great week and I'll keep you posted.

I'm Back

Hi, I am finally back and blogging again, I took a small leave of absence sense my depression started acting up again. Some days are good days and others really bad. The problem is that I never know how I will be feeling from one minute to the next. One minute I can be feeling happy, then the next I'm felling sad. I tend to have really big mood swings. If something in my life seems to be flowing along then I can handle it, but the minute something changes or a problem occurs big or small. I feel so out of control and overwhelmed. Do you ever feel this way? If you do, how do you go about coping with it? Remember, I am the self help mom so I can ask a lot of questions, lol! Have a great weekend friends!

Close To The Finish LIne

Hi, I am getting closer to being done with my 30 day challenge on the Wii EA Sports Active. I have one more week to go. I am very excited that I am actually exercising and sticking with it. I have to admit some days it is really hard because I just don't feel like exercising, but I really feel mentally better when I do exercise. To me the mental aspect of it is a huge benefit. Unfortunately, no weight loss yet. I have not even lost 1 lb. I do have to admit I have not been watching what I eat very well. Tomorrow is a new day, as they say. I hope you all have a great week and I will stay in touch. Please feel free to leave me a comment.

Thankful Thursday

I'm back, I hope all is well with everyone. I just wanted to let you know that today is my rest day. Lately, the ea sports active has been kicking my butt. The game just let me know that my exercises will be getting harder, not complaining though, I need it. I really hate to sweat though. If someone could invent something that you could wear on your body to prevent sweating it would be awesome. Unfortunately, if your body did not sweat you would internally overheat and die, not a good scenario. Every Thursday I am going to start posting what I am thankful for. I will list 5 things that I am thankful for, I think we all have something to be thankful for, even small things count. Gratitude really helps you become a happier person because you really start to appreciate the things that you do have. It will help you to realize that you do really have a good life. I would love for you to join me on Thankful Thursdays and to post what you are thankful for. Ok, me first!

1. I am thankful for my family
2. I am thankful to have food to eat
3. I am thankful that it is summer
4. I am thankful that I have a house
5. I am thankful to be alive

Closer To The End Of The 30 Day Challenge

I am so glad that I am getting closer to the end of my 30 day challenge on the EA Sports Active on the Wii. This is the very first time that I have been consistent with any exercise. I am very happy that I am sticking to something for the first time in my life. It is very hard though, because I have not lost any weight as of yet. I am trying to stay positive and focus on getting physically fit. On August 1, which will be my oldest son's birthday he will be 18, I can't believe it! I will not be watching what I eat on this day, of course because we all know with birthday celebrations everyone usually eats way more than they should. I will be starting to watch my portion sizes and eat a healthier diet on August 2nd. I am so bad at eating healthy, this is going to be my biggest challenge. I just love food, but who doesn't it is everywhere you go. I will need all the support I can get. If you have any really good recipes that I could try that are tasty, but also healthy I would love to try them. Have a great week, talk with you soon!

Workout Accomplished

Hi, I did my ea sports active workout again today. One more day to go and I will have completed my 3 day of exercise this week and accomplished my goal this week. I have to say I feel great about it. Something that I don't feel so great about is that I totally overate today. I mean, I ate vanilla wafers, some cereal, chili from Wendy's I was horrible. As I said before, I am just working on my fitness for 1 month then next month I will focus on portion control. I am hoping that my workouts still count even though I failed terribly with my eating today. Having depression I find that I am an emotional eater. When something really bothers me I turn to food, who am I kidding I turn to food way to often. Happiness makes me eat, sadness makes me eat more. There has to be an even balance to all of this and I am determined to find it. Take care for now.

Still Moving Forward

Hi, I just wanted to give everyone an update. I am still doing the ea sports active workout. It went really well today. So far, I have been to working out 3 days a week, once I have the habit of consistently working out 3 days a week I will move up to 4 days a week. I have still been struggling with the food aspect of things, but I am tackling one habit at a time. My biggest downfall is chocolate I absolutely love it. I am going to eat chocolate only 2 times a week and see how it goes. I will keep you updated on my progress. I really need accountability so if you have any suggestions or advice it would be greatly appreciated.

My Rest Day

Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know that today is my rest day on the wii ea sports active game. I really enjoy the game and would encourage anyone who is having a hard time getting motivated to exercise to try the ea sports active. It really makes it fun. Today I am catching up on laundry and other household obligations. Have a great day and let me know what you think and if you have any advice I am open to it as well.
